PURPOSE:

The purpose of having a Nitaino Youth Council, is to promote the mission and objectives of Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc.  and to empower our Boricua youth. It is our goal to help our Nitaino youth build leadership skills, cultural pride, community activism, and most of all help build a positive self image.

Definition of Nitaino Youth Council:

Youth, under the age of 17 chosen by Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. who will serve as ambassadors promoting the mission and objectives of the organization in their respective cities, schools, churches, and communities.· They will have their own organization which will be under the umbrella and sponsorship of Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc.

The Nitaino Youth Council will have a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and two Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. Advisors (One male & One female), and members. The President shall act on an advisory capacity on the Board of Directors of  Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. The President shall represent the interest of the Nitaino Youth Council membership. The President will attend all Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. meetings and events conducted when possible or send a representative.

1. · To be responsible of informing other youth of the significance of        Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. history and mission.
2. · To advertise activities conducted by Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. through the dissemination of flyers, invitations, and presentations to the community (e.g. community organizations, schools, and/or individuals) as needed.
3. · To provide ideas to Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. board members regarding activities the Nitaino Youth Council members would like to conduct in the community.
4. *All Nitaino Youth Council members are required to participate in leadership development and community service activities.
5. · Two members (one male & one Female member) of Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. shall serve as advisors to the Nitaino Youth Council.

Support to the Nitaino Youth Council:

Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. shall provide two adults members to provide technical and logistical information. Sociedad will provide financial support when needed and available. Mentorship of individual or group Nitaino members may also occur. The mentorship will be implemented by the Nitaino Youth 's choice. They may choose a member who they feel will be able to provide guidance for their activities and leadership building. Nitaino youth can participate in fund raising activities as well.

Nitaino Youth Council Charters :

Our Nitaino Youth can develop charters that will be approved by the Board of Directors of Sociedad Borincana, Inc. A certificate of charter will be given upon Board of Directors approval.

Parents input:

In order to participate in the Nitaino Youth Council the Parent (s) must provide Permission for their children to participate in the council. Parents shall be kept abreats of all activities conducted by Sociedad Cultural Borincana, Inc. and the Nitaino Youth Council. In order for our Nitaino youth to build a positive self image it is important that parents take an active role in their children's leadership building.
